Has it ever crossed your mind if you've never learnt english??
weird question..
honestly, for me..i hav never given it a thought.
last saturday was my first day teaching tuition to a small group of kids in a church in Semeling.. i bet u havent heard of Semeling. :P it's an extremely small town in d outskirts of Sungai Petani. i bet u havent heard of Sungai Petani. HAHA!
it's where im currently studying in..anyway, d church here has a tuition ministry to cater to kids in primary school. the purpose was to reach out to the community thru this ministry and to be a church which sees the need of the ppl.
Boy: Lao Shiii.. shen me shi pla-ling (playing) - teacher, wat does playing mean?
Me: Playing means 'wan'.. play games, play toys, play football..
Boy: oh..pla-ling means 'wan'..
Me: pla..-ying..
Boy: pla..-ling..
Me: pla..
Boy: pla..
Me: ying...
Boy: ying...
Me: pla-ying..
Boy: pla-ling..
surprisingly, he was able to answer correctly when it comes to filling the blanks with "those" and "that".
eg. Those girls were playing under the tree.
he could hardly read the words dat followed d blanks..and yet he cud fill them in correctly. then i realised he actually looked for certain 's' alphabets in the sentence to tell whether it's plural or singular. so english was something like maths or physics..it follows formulas.
's' = many = those
no 's' = one = that
this lil boy's ignorance really moved me..how Lord? how is it like to never be able to speak english? mayb cos im a english-ed, i know no other written language other than BM and Eng. but ya..i cant imagine.
sometimes i feel i am so fortunate dat i am ignorant to the plight of others who are much less fortunate. as d sharing goes for last nite's cg, more often we have just been living for ourselves. we shut out other ppl.. we become more aware of ourselves...and it continues on as selfishness.
while ppl here are thinking where to go for a vacation; where to spend our money.. hundreds of others all over the world are starving and could only DREAM of a day where they get to eat a decent meal.
Matthew 25:35 (ff).
less of me...for more of You.

Patients.
woohoo... i jus had my 2nd patient today!
God is gracious indeed.. for every session i prayed earnestly that my patients will turn up so at least i can learn something from d session and both encounters were testimonies:
a) my first ever pt whom i have been praying for by name, (a week before i even met her) did not turn up BUT...she did call d day b4 and d receptionist arranged another patient who turned up!!
so far..he has been a very compliant pt..and im absolutely grateful for that.:)
b) my 2nd patient did not turn up today...BUT another walk-in patient was available at that moment itself..and his case was fascinating indeed.
God is a God of Providence amen.
haha...the experience of being in clinics is exhilarating; it's all you've been studying since the day u stepped into a dental course. now that i'm able to put it all into practise. no more simulators (ah sim) to fiddle with.
currently i have just managed to do oral prophylaxis - scaling with HAND instruments. *ultrasonic scalers will come later.:P
im jus thankful that amidst the 'fragrance' of oral cavities, the multitudes of debris/plaque/calculus in any given person's mouth and the moist-ness of wet saliva in the mouth, i find joy in what i do!
perhaps i have yet to face the stress which my seniors face nowadays while dealing with patients.. so i shall continue to pray dat God will grant me strength for each day; dat He wil only give me what i can handle each day.
a gllimpse of me in my scrubs..:D yes...BATA shoes all over again...!!
