d day before..

tmr's the day before Medicine paper. :P we're sloughing thru our exam papers during dis festive season? it's jus so sad..

think about it this way...

dental faculty has the most organized holidays..compared to other faculties. they may ensalve us for exams before holidays..repeat; before.
But...
it could have been AFTER! den we'll be munching chinese new year cookies with one hand and oral pathology notes on d other hand. dat's even sadder.

oh well..i shall not complain.

Chee cheong fun..

updates...

  • My compaq presario was sent in for repair - havent been using since 2 weeks ago..:( sadness..

  • We visited brother brandon, my former english tuition teacher since primary school..yes, as in a brother from la salle school. it has been 8 years since we have started our first class..3 of us were mischievous little girls then. time flies indeed.
We used to have little competitions amongst ouselves.. such as: competing to form the longest sentence. we went thru the book Around the World in 80 days and Black Beauty. we've learnt much in those years..with our grammar constantly corrected even as spoke..clauses, tenses, subjects, verbs, adjectives, nouns, pronouns..even though i dont think i rmb which is which..haha, not all anyway. :P we had lots of fun playing around with words and appreciating english.

Brother Brandon liked joking about his favourite food being chee cheong fun. or ppl who only speaks chinese, speaks chee cheong fun..well, im just glad he eliminated our chee cheong fun from our english. i jus wanna thank him for all the difference he had made in my life..refining the 'banana' part of me. :)

dots..

Malacca's state government has given out this ruling today..

  1. MARRIED men in Malacca may receive RM1,000 from the state government if they choose to take poor, single mothers as second wives, reported Harian Metro
  2. In an effort to curb social ills such as illicit sex and Mat Rempit, Mohd Ali said the state government would consider giving a similar incentive to youths who get married before 30.
Before this, also in Malacca...

  • Malacca Indian Chamber of Commerce believes that conferring the Datukship title on Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan will help boost tourist arrivals from India.

Update..

An update:

Gillian's Water Baptism
this is my first time witnessing a friend getting baptised in a swimming pool. haha..it's so good to celebrate this occasion.:) six were baptised that day.. dere was an addition towards the end...as jamie was pushed into the pool. woohoo..!

Classes and lab sessions now consists of:

Endodontics
Using K-files and Gates Glidden bur for root canal treatment. Apparently there's perforation in my first cavity access (on 21)..and of course, it was detected when a radiograph (IOPA) taken. (yes, we know how to take radiographs and develop its film.) My size-15 K-file access right through the perforation. So now i have to use 11 instead. For coronal flaring these 2 techniques are used:
  • Crown -down technique
  • Step-back technique
*I shall add that government hospitals do not provide equipments for left-handed dental officers. so a note of advice from datuk dr. rohani, do not get too comfortable using the available left-handed equipments in our faculty. :P no, im right-handed.

Oral Pathology
Chapter 7 of Oxford - Oral Pathology: Diseases of the periodontium (eg. gingivitis leading to
chronic inflammatory periodontal disease)

Oral Radiology
so far, we have learnt to take IOPA - intraoral periapical radiographs and develope the films. Two techniques for periapical radiography:

  • Bisected angle technique
  • Paralleling Technique
*I shall add that all radiograph techniques to develope films are soon to be obsolete as we are now shifting to the era of digital imaging. we are taught these techniques bcos government hospitals have yet to change x-ray in the near future.

Dental Public Health

Oral health status in malaysia. i was rather surprised with the development of oral health policy as it closely follows the current global health requirements. (kudos malaysia!)
  • Ottawa charter
Re-orientating health care services toward prevention of illness and promotion of health.
  • Alma Ata Declaration
Primary health care in heath systems.

Medicine
History-taking of patients, CVS, Respiratory disorders, infections, GI disorders, Liver and Renal diseases.

Surgery
We had a hospital visit to the surgery ward in Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim. Dr. Kyi Tan Oo was very patient with us indeed for our first history-taking session. we managed to take history of four patients. fortunately, they were all quite friendly and helpful.
*I shall add that, one patient actually told us the number of questions we had missed out.:P yes, patients sometimes do know more than doctors.
